WVNET will migrate private IP addresses in the South behind a new firewall appliance on May 28th between 8-9 PM
WVNET will be migrating all private IP VLANs hosted in our Charleston POP to new firewall appliances. This maintenance is scheduled for Thursday, May 28th, from 8:00-9:00 PM.

Although the full hour has been reserved, the expected service interruption for each VLAN will last only a few minutes as sessions are re-established. Most customers are unlikely to notice any impact due to the brief duration of these interruptions.

Our Network Operations Center (NOC) is available 24/7 to provide support before, during, and after the migration. If you experience service issues, have questions about the process, or need additional information, please contact us.

This ticket and https://status.wvnet.edu/ will be updated once the migration is complete. If you haven’t joined the notification list on that status page, we recommend you do so to keep up-to-date on the status of all WVNET services.

Similar work was done in Morgantown on September 25, 2025 with no problems reported. This will complete WVNET’s migration to new firewall appliances.

We appreciate your patience and partnership as we upgrade to newer firewall devices to improve performance, reliability and security.
