Carrier Lines Down causing reduced capacity

The carrier reported the fiber break affecting multiple vendors to be resolved.

Before announcing that all services were restored, additional testing of alternatives was performed in preparation of future issues.

At this point, all testing has ceased and normal operations have resumed.

The carrier has reported the following:

“We are observing a fiber outage in the Morgantown, WV area that was caused by a utility pole fire. Our Outside Plant (OSP) team has been engaged and is currently en route to the location of the damage. We will provide the estimated time of arrival (ETA) for the OSP team once that information is available.”

We have continued to attempt to escalate with the issue carrier, but still do not have an estimated time to repair.

Investigations are also underway for potential alternatives to help improve performance.

Multipel Carrier Lines Down Resulting in Reduced Capacity
Our internal monitoring has shown multiple carrier lines down that are used to provide connectivity.  We are in communication with the carrier to expedite the restoration of these lines.  Until the issue is resolved, overal capacity is reduced.  Addtional updates will be provide as they become available.
